Substantial annual savings for ‘Alles Wisselt’ thanks to switching to Mobil lubricants

Situation

In mid-2019 the owner of Z.431 Alles Wisselt chose to switch the Mitsubishi S6RF-300 engine to the new Mobilgard HSD+ 15W40. Previously, a standard 15W-40 engine oil was used. Also for the hydraulic oil, the upgrade was made to Mobil DTE 10 Excel 46. Finally, Ingelbeen-Soete recommended changing the grease from a standard grease to the Mobilgrease XHP 222.

Recommendations

- Mobilgard HSD+ 15W-40 is an extra high performance, multigrade engine oil specially formulated for increased drain intervals in heavy-duty marine high speed diesel engines.

- Mobil DTE 10 Excel 46 is a unique anti-wear hydraulic oil specifically designed to provide excellent hydraulic efficiency combined with extended oil life.

- Mobilgrease XHP 222 is an excellent lithium complex grease with superior resistance to water washout and excellent protection

Result and benefits

The Mobilgard HSD+ 15W-40 and Mobil Serv Lubricant Analysis follow up significantly increased the lubrication interval. Measured values for metal wear parts showed that the engine remained perfectly protected during this interval. This resulted in annual savings of EUR 832.

The Mobil DTE 10 Excel 46 also had a positive influence on both the protection level and lubrication intervals. This resulted in annual savings of EUR 703.

Switching to Mobilgrease XHP 222 resulted in a doubling of the lubrication interval and a double life span of the stern tube. These two factors resulted in savings of EUR 4 370.
